Development of Daily Living and Life Skills in Logan and Brisbane

Life skills support is training, not just help. The goal is that over time you do more for yourself: cooking, managing money, catching public transport, keeping a home, looking after your health. Parcare Lifestyle delivers this capacity building support across Logan, Brisbane and Redland City, and through our Melbourne branch, at home and out in the community.

Skills we work on

  • Cooking, meal planning and grocery shopping.
  • Budgeting, paying bills and using banking safely.
  • Public transport, road safety and getting around independently.
  • Cleaning, laundry and keeping a home in good order.
  • Personal care routines and managing medication with the right supports.
  • Communication, appointments, and speaking up for yourself.
  • Getting ready to move into your own unit and the skills that make it work.

How it works

We start with what you want to be able to do, break it into steps, and practise with a support worker until it sticks. Progress is written down so you and your support coordinator can see it and so it feeds into your next plan review. Sessions are 1:1 or in a small group, at home, at our Loganholme base or wherever the skill happens.

Funding

This support is funded from the Capacity Building budget of your NDIS plan under Improved Daily Living, and sometimes from Core when it is delivered as part of daily support. We quote before we start and claim only the hours delivered.
