SIL Frankston
SIL in Frankston and on the Peninsula
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for help with daily tasks in your home, usually for people who need support for much of the day and sometimes overnight. Parcare Lifestyle is a SIL provider in Frankston and across the Mornington Peninsula. Our Victorian office support is based in Carrum Downs, and our support workers live in Frankston South, Carrum Downs, Skye and Blairgowrie.
What SIL support looks like
- Personal care, meals, medication support and getting ready for the day
- Cooking, cleaning, shopping and running a household, building the skills to do more yourself
- Getting out to work, day programs, sport and the people you want to see
- Active overnight or sleepover support where your plan includes it
- A roster built with you and your housemates, so the house runs the way you want
SIL in your own home or a shared home
SIL can be delivered in a home you rent or own, or in a shared home with housemates. If you need a home as well as the support, we work through the options with you and your support coordinator, including Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) if you are eligible. Read SIL, ILO and SDA explained for the differences, and check our current vacancies.
Is SIL the right fit?
SIL suits some people and not others. If you want more independence with lighter support, Individualised Living Options (ILO) may suit you better. We will tell you straight which one fits your goals.

Is rent included in SIL funding?
No. SIL funds the support, not the home. Rent, food and utilities are paid by the participant, usually from the Disability Support Pension and Commonwealth Rent Assistance. SDA funding, where you are eligible, covers the cost of a specialist home.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL pays for the people who support you at home. SDA pays for specially designed housing for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. You can have one without the other, and many people have both.
Do I have to live with people I do not know?
No. SIL can be delivered in your own home. If you choose a shared home, you meet the household first and your say on who you live with matters.
How do I get SIL in my plan?
SIL is requested through the NDIA, usually with a home and living request and supporting evidence from your therapists and support coordinator. We can provide a roster of care quote to support the request.
How do I get started?
Send a referral or call us. A participant, family member, support coordinator or hospital discharge planner can refer. We call back, talk through your goals and plan, and match you with a worker who lives close by.
Can I change from my current provider to Parcare?
Yes. Your plan stays the same; you only change who delivers the supports. We set up a service agreement with you, agree a start date with your current provider and keep your routine going while the handover happens.
